Physiotherapists
Shannon Estabrooks, BScBio, BScPT, Dip Sport PT
Shannon, the
Director of ActiveLife, graduated from Dalhousie University's physiotherapy
program in 1996. She is one of only four in NS with a Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy, the highest level
attainable through Sport Physiotherapy Canada (SPC), has been
an active member of SPC's NS and national executive boards and teaches the Sport Physiotherapy module at Dalhousie University. She has provided
sports injury care to elite athletes at national & international
events & is a physio provider for the Canadian Sport Centre-Atlantic.
She was selected the "2007 Physiotherapist of the Year" by the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists.
Rosanna Kelly-Amirault, BScBio, BScPT, CAFCI
Rosanna graduated from McGill University's Physiotherapy program in 2004. She has been in private practice since graduation and has experience in treating patients with work-related injuires, MVA-related injuries, arthritic conditions and sports injuries. She has completed the Acupuncture CAFCI certification and post-graduate courses in manual therapy, pain management and most recently in the physiotherapy treatment of urinary incontinence in women. She is also working on her Certificate in Sport Physiotherapy.
Massage Therapists
Lina Skoke Woods, Diploma in Massage Therapy
Lina graduated from the massage therapy program at Northumberland
College in Halifax in 2002 and has practiced in Pictou County since.
She has specialized training in pregnancy massage and sports nutrition.
She has post-graduate study plans in sports massage and has provided
massage at numerous sporting events. She has also participated in
outreach events focusing on Parkinson's, MS, women's health and
the elderly. In her spare time she walks her dogs, Tony & Sydney.
Kayleigh Farrell, Diploma in Massage Therapy
Kayleigh graduated with the Massage Therapy Diploma from Northumberland College in Halifax in 2008. She received specialized training in sports massage, myofascial release and Suikodo, a very gentle form of massage based on a Japanese technique and meridian theory. She is a registered Massage Therapist and a member of the Massage Therapists' & Wholistic Practitioners' Association of the Maritimes. She is a successful equestrian athlete and has been part of the "Future Young Riders Select Training" program for elite dressage riders in Canada.
Christine Pottie, Diploma in Massage Therapy
Christine graduated with a diploma in Massage Therapy from ICT Northumberland College in 2004. Since graduation she has worked as a RMT in the Halifax region and taught at ICT Northumberland College in the Massage Therapy program.
She has completed specialized training in Pregnancy and Sports massage, and received certification as an Infant Massage Instructor. Through her practice, she has worked with many pregnant women to help overcome the physical changes their body's experience. She can offer expecting clients the comfort of a specially-designed pregnancy table that allows a treatment to be performed while lying facedown for a more comfortable and effective experience.

Carol Ann Sweeney, BSc.H.K., C. Ped Tech., C. Ped (C)
Carol Ann graduated from the University of Guelph in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics (Honours) degree.
Following graduation, she began working in the area of ergonomics in Gander, Newfoundland. After three years, she moved to Brandon, Manitoba where she was first introduced to the field of Pedorthics.
Carol Ann began to focus on pedorthics full time in 2000 and obtained her Pedorthic Technician certification in 2002 and obtained her Canadian Certified Pedorthic certification in 2007. In her free time, she enjoys
spending time outdoors with her two young children.
Kinesiologist-Physiotherapy Aid
Melissa Carroll, BScK
Melissa graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a Human Kinetics degree with a major in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology. She has a strong knowledge base of exercise science and physiology, biomechanics and elements of exercise programming. She spent four years in Montreal where she attended Concordia University and working the YMCA before moving home to Nova Scotia to complete her Kinetics degree.
