New graduates and experienced therapists are welcomed to apply today for this career opportunity. ActiveLife is a well established and recently expanded multi-service clinic in downtown New Glasgow, NS. We invite physiotherapists with experience or an interest in orthopaedics and sports to apply for this full-time position. The successful applicant will join a dynamic, experienced team which includes two PTs, two massage therapists and a pedorthist. Our kinesiologist-PT assistant and experienced administrative staff helps each day run smoothly. Our clinic operates at a comfortable pace and has six private physiotherapy treatment rooms and a gym.
ActiveLife has a solid physician referral base and an excellent reputation. Our active and athletic orthopaedic clients are of all ages and are goal-driven individuals. Our clinic is well-known in athletic circles and is affiliated with the local Junior A and major midget hockey teams. There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to participate in sports event coverage, if so desired. We also have a WCB contract and have a good reputation for return to work decision making.
Within the clinic environment, the successful applicant will be responsible for provision of assessments of orthopaedic and sports injuries, treatments including modalities, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy and education, and clinical documentation.
Sponsorship for the motivated inexperienced physiotherapist is available. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Mentoring in manual therapy and towards Sports PT certification is available.
DETAILS:
Start Date: As soon as possible
Position: Permanent, full or part-time. Employer is flexible and able to offer 20-40 hours/wk. depending employees preference. Days and early evenings, Monday to Friday
Salary: Commensurate with experience and post-graduate education
Benefits include a signing bonus and annual educational allowance, paid vacation and holidays and NS College license fee paid
Qualifications:
1) BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy, or diploma in Physiotherapy
2) Eligible for or currently has licence with the NS College of Physiotherapists
3) Eligible for or currently has personal malpractice insurance
4) Ability to accurately assess patients physical abilities and disabilities; administer evaluative tests; plan physiotherapy treatment programs; select appropriate treatment modalities, manual therapy techniques and exercise programs; write detailed clinical reports; and communicate with colleges and other health professionals
5) Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is preferred
Experience or interest in orthopaedics & sports rehabilitation is an asset. Having E2V2 or Level 2 manual therapy, and Sport Physiotherapy Canadas sport certification or diploma are considered assets.

1) Graduate of MT College with 2000+ hours education
2) Eligible for or currently is registered to practice in NS, membership with MTANS or MTWPAM
3) Eligible for or currently has personal malpractice insurance
4) Ability to accurately assess patients physical abilities and disabilities; administer evaluative tests; plan and apply appropriate MT treatment programs; chart in SOAP format and write clinical reports; and communicate well with other health professionals and patients
Experience or interest in orthopaedics & sports rehabilitation is an asset.
